Icom ID-4100A Quick Reference
This is a quick reference for common tasks involving the Icom ID-4100A. Topics include entry of repeater frequencies, offset and CTCSS tones, deleting memory frequencies and memory banks. Other common programing options will also be covered.
Operating Mode
- Press the MODE button the second from the lower left to choose your operating mode ie FM, FM-Narrwo, AM, AM-Narrow, DV
Power Level
- Push the QUICK button lower right corner
- Rotate the dial to select TX POWER then press enter
- Select the desired power output and press enter
Save Frequency to Memory & Repeater Operation
- Select a frequency in VFO mode
- Push BAND and select your desired band
- Press MODE to select your operating mode
- Push QUICK and rotate the dial to DUP then push enter
- Enter the duplex offset and press enter ( you can change offeset in the MENU screen if needed)
- Press QUICK and then TONE then enter
- Select the TONE setting (you can set the tone frequency in the MENU screen)
- Push the MW button
- Using the dial select WRITE TO NEW CH
- Rotate the dial to select the desired memory channel then press MW
- Confirm by selecting YES
- Create memory name by pressing MENU
- Rotate the dial to select MANAGE MEMORY
- Select MEMORY CH and then ALL
- Rotate the dial to select the desired memory channel then press QUICK
- Select EDIT then NAME
- Enter in the name for the channel
- Press enter then OVERWRITE
- Memory or Frequency Name Display
- Push VM until you enter memory mode
- Press QUICK
- Rotate the dial to select DISPLAY TYPE
- Select Frequency or Name and press enter
- Clear a Memory Channel
- Press MENU rotate dial to select MANAGE MEMORY
- Select MEMORY CH press enter
- Select ALL press enter
- Rotate the dial to select memory channe then press QUICK
- Select CLEAR
Memory Banks
- Push the MENU button and then select MANAGE MEMORY
- Select ALL option
- Rotate dial until desired memory channel is found and then press QUICK
- Select EDIT then enter.
- Select BANK then press enter.
- Using the dial select the bank you want to assign and press enter.
- Select OVERWRITE then enter
- Confirm your selection to overwrite and save
- To select a memory bank do the following...
- Push VM until you arrivate at Memory Mode
- Push QUICK
- Rotate the dial to BANK SELECT and press enter
- Rotate the dial to select the desired bank and press enter
- To quit bank mode go back into BANK SELECT and choose OFF
- Name a Memory Bank
- Push MENU Rotate dial to MANAGE MEMORY and press enter
- Select MEMORY CH and rotate the dial to the desired Bank
- Press QUICK
- Click on EDIT NAME
- Enter name and press enter
Monitor Repeater Input
Home Channel
- Select VFO or Memory Channel
- Press the QUICK button to the far lower right
- Rotate dial to select HOME CH SET and press return
- Press the HOME channel on the microphone to select
Scanning
- Enter the mode or bank you wish to scan
- Press the dial for at least 1 second to enter SCAN selection
- Choose the type of scan you want then press enter
- Program Scan Edge
- Press MENU then use dial to select SCAN
- Select PROGRAM SCAN EDGE
- Select a scan edge channel
- Press QUCIK then EDIT
- Enter name then press enter
- Select FREQUENCY then press enter
- Rotate the dial to set the lower frequency then press enter
- Using the lower buttons move to enter the higher frequency and press enter
- Specify the tuning step by pressing TS
- Select MODE then press enter once you make your selection
- Select WRITE to store your program scan edge profile
Skip Channel
- Press VM seveal times until the memory channel is found
- Push the QUICK button on the right lower corner
- Rotate the dial and select SKIP
- Choose the option you want and press enter.
CTCSS
- Press the MENU button left upper corner of radio
- Use the dial to scroll to DUP/TONE
- Set the TSQL frequency
- Go back to your memory channel and edit to save the TSQL setting
GPS Data
- Push the QUICK button right lower corner
- Select GPS Position
